At Iganyana Tented Camp in Hwange National Park, we’ve created the Relaxing Safari Getaway, an experience that blends the adventure of safari with the restorative power of mindful living. The retreat is intentionally unhurried, inviting guests to slow down, breathe deeply, and find balance in the rhythm of the bush.

We are fortunate to have Liz Preston, our dedicated wellness and yoga specialist, as part of our team. With her expertise in yoga, meditation, and sound healing, Liz guides guests through daily practices that restore balance and nurture both mind and body. Her presence ensures that each retreat flows with care and authenticity, allowing guests to go deeper into their journey of rest and renewal.

The experience begins gently: a concession drive to reconnect with the landscape, dinner beneath the stars, and Yin yoga accompanied by a solfeggio sound journey to prepare the mind and body for rest. Each morning unfolds with sunrise yoga and meditation, grounding guests in the present moment while awakening both energy and clarity. The days are carefully shaped around alternating pulses of activity and stillness. Afternoons may include concession drives or a visit to Painted Dog Conservation, while evenings draw guests back to the fire for restorative yoga, sound healing, or quiet reflection under the night sky.

Workshops are woven into the programme to encourage creativity and inner balance. Guests explore the subconscious mind through affirmations, discover the simplicity of meditation, or take part in playful sessions such as towel-folding origami or cocktail and mocktail making at sunset. These lighter moments balance the more introspective practices, reminding us that joy and laughter are also forms of wellness.

For those seeking deeper rest, massage and spa treatments are available, from focused neck-and-shoulder releases to full-body therapies and facials. These sessions complement the retreat’s flow, easing away tension so that guests can align more fully with the natural rhythm of Hwange.

The retreat culminates in a feeling of celebration, not through ceremony, but through the collective experience of connection. Guests leave with the grounding of early-morning meditations, the thrill of wildlife encounters, and the calm of starlit fireside yoga. For those who choose the extended 7-day option, the slower pace allows even more time to settle in and includes a full-day guided safari into Hwange National Park, complete with a picnic lunch in the wild—an experience that marries adventure with serenity.
